Sonya H 2020 recommends the Language School Lutèce Langue.
When I moved to Paris a few months ago, I visited several language schools to decide which would be a good fit for me. Lutèce Langue was the fourth one I visited, and I signed up on the spot because the atmosphere was markedly different from the others. It felt much more professional and better organized, and I liked how friendly the students seemed during the break. I could tell it was very much a community. I have now been studying there for five months, and it’s been everything I was hoping for and more. I’ve taken both regular classes and private lessons and am happy with how much I am learning. As with any school, it’s the teachers that make all the difference and the three teachers I have had so far (Margaux, Tania, and Christine) are all very good, each with a different teaching style - for example, one of them has each lesson meticulously planned peppered with interactive (and sometimes competitive!) games while another one seems to employ more free-flowing discussions to encourage speaking. The classes are a good mix of grammar and speaking, and also of serious learning and fun interactions (Margaux’s classes can sometimes be hilarious while never losing sight of the teaching objectives). The student body can be divided into two types - those that are long term students and those that come for a short time, sometimes just for a week while on vacation. This can be a negative factor since the true level and class dynamic could vary week to week but this would be true of any language school that accepts students on an ongoing basis. The school does a good job grouping students into similar levels and making sure the materials are suitable for everyone in class. The administration does a good job of communicating to the students, and I am impressed with its handling of the COVID-19 situation. Once the school closed, online classes were organized immediately via zoom and although they are not the same as in-person classes, they are still effective and adapted well to remote learning. If you are serious about learning french, whether for a week or long-term, and looking for a comfortable environment where you meet great people, Lutèce Langue is the perfect choice!
